History

The Hutchinson Assembly of God church was started in the home of Mr. & Mrs. Elmer Paul, on August 27, 1950, with only five people present.

Nine months later, ground was broken for a basement church on the corner of 5th Avenue and Harrington St.

In 1958, the upper sanctuary structure was completed.

When the congregation began to outgrow that location, they purchased the Bachman Construction building, one mile west of Hutchinson. The new location was dedicated in May, 1987.
Jesse Norwood
Worshippers at a Revival Service
Steve and Becky Smith

In July of 1996, Riverside began to experience a new spiritual awakening that many refer to as revival. in January of 1997, Evangelist Jesse Norwood came to preach for a week of service, but he didn't conclude his ministry until the end of November. Revival services we held every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night.

In January of 1998, Evangelist Steve Smith began preaching the continued revival every Friday and Saturday night through August. Over the course of those two years, hundreds of people were saved, healed, fill with the Spirit and transformed.

By the time the services had concluded in August of 1998, people had come to Riverside from over 140 Minnesota communities, 11 states and 7 foreign countries.

In 1999, a new addition to the building was completed, which double the church's square footage.

Riverside Assembly of God today.
